The irresistible products in the range are inspired by the idea that art can be used, as well as admired. The Smart Deco Style team both source and create functional art, contemporary design-led homeware, gifts and lifestyle accessories. that combine beauty with purpose and brings creativity into our lives.
Bringing art off the wall and on to the sofa, key pieces in the collection add that hint of decadent luxury or create an artistic finishing touch to an interior and range from vibrant poppy print cushions and duvet sets to scenic deckchairs. The range expands upon our best-selling lighting designs called Smarty Lamps, 1970's retro style modular lampshades which we manufacture since 2004.
Smart Deco’s current boutique-style collection features the works of British artist, and founder, Jacqueline Hammond. Latest designs and products feature new motifs and imagery from Jacqueline’s extensive and contemporary body of work. Best-selling designs in the collection include the ‘Life’s a Beach Deckchair’ which has featured in the ‘Wall Street Journal’, ‘Sunday Telegraph’ and ‘The Alan Titchmarsh Show’ (ITV1, October 2012).
After success with producing limited edition prints of original artworks on paper and canvas, printing on to textiles to create homewares and soft furnishings was the logical next step. This saw the formation of Smart Deco (Style).
Translating artworks on canvas into textiles required a focus on fine detail, and so high class, archival-quality printing methods are used to reproduce artworks on to soft furnishings and household textiles including art print deckchairs, art print cushions, panoramic picture lampshades, decadent duvet covers and sought-after handbags. All products achieve a hand-painted look with vivid colours. They add a hint of decadent luxury to the home interior, while retaining their value as original works of art. All designs are printed by a British company recognised for its pioneering work in the digital print industry.
Smart Deco continue expanding the range with plans to develop the Smart Deco style by introducing other functional, art and design led products by other artists, designers and manufacturers by combining pieces that work together to create stylish interiors.
Jacqueline Hammond says: “Today, art is not just something to hang in a frame. In the contemporary housewares sector, we’re seeing an increasing movement towards ‘functional art’ that has a practical purpose, as well as being beautiful. With Smartdeco the idea is to pioneer that trend and bring artworks off the wall so they can adorn and serve the home interior and be useful in different properties, spaces and living rooms."
Smart Deco launched the range of “functional art” products at the prestigious trade show ‘Spring Fair International’ exhibition held at Birmingham NEC from 3-7 February, 2013 and exhibited again in the Contemporary Home and Gifts Hall at Spring Fair in 2014. We received an amazing response from visitors to the trade show and thoroughly enjoyed meeting everyone who visited the Smart Deco stand. If you saw us there, we’d love to hear from you on Facebook so please do make friends and join us by liking pages and posts. Tell us how the show went for you and what your plans are for the coming season.
Our website gives you just a flavour of what we can do. There are more colours, styles and sizes available in the range of products we produce.
