This small vignette painting of a girl carrying red shoes and paddling in the sea at the beach is one of a series titled ‘A Little Piece of the Beach.’ The paintings are closely detailed studies of people at the beach or in the sea, created as preliminary work for the ‘Life’s a Beach’ paintings which detail the whole panoramic of a beach from a bird’s eye point of view. The artist paints the shoreline vertically, dividing the canvas in half.
